Justin McBride is on a roll

He won Omaha. His fifth in this very young season. Lord love him, I hope he stays healthy, because he's my boy, and I'd love to see him win in San Antonio or Dallas, when we go see the tour...

That Chris Shivers needs to stay of f his head and his bad leg and get back in the race, too!

Star of Texas Rodeo Pt. 2

Man, I do love me some close-to-the-bucking-chutes seats!

Cowboys, cowboys, and cowboys.

Is there a better exercise on earth than bareback calesthenics?

Last night was another visit to the Star of Texas Rodeo - the team ropers were having troubles, but the bullriders were rocking it. There were a couple of bulls that looked like PBR-wannabes and one was on the PBR tour last year (the bull's name escapes me. I'll ask Lorna, she'll remember).

Celebrity viewing? Cory Melton and Bill Engvall.

On the western clothing front - why don't they make cowboy clothes for big girls? I did buy a baby pink straw hat and my partner got a bullet hole riddled one.

It suits her.

rodeo austin

Went to the Star of Texas last night. Had a ball. I have the go round results somewhere, and will put them up when I remember.

Got hotels for PBR in San Antonio and Dallas, in May and June respectively.

Of other note, our thoughts and good wishes are with Lee Akin and his family. Lee was injured badly during a PRCA event, with a bull hitting his head and causing some serious damage. Cowgirl Up Design will be making a donation to the Resistol Relief Fund in his name. Anyone can donate. The link is here: http://www.resistolrelief.com/

Rodeo Houston Opening Night

So, we put on our boots and headed down to Houston on Tuesday, February 27 for the opening night of Rodeo Houston. We wandered the trade and stock show, ate some of the spiciest smoked sausage in the world, admired the sparkly pink hats, and then went to watch some rodeo action.

They started with the tie down roping (which just threw off my whole rhythm, don't you know). Here were the one night event winners:

Tie Down Roping - Boe Brown, score 9.2

Bareback Bronc Riding - Ryan Gray 81.5

Team Roping - Derick Fleming and Jett Hillman 5.0

Saddle Bronc Riding - Cody DeMers 80 points

Steer Wrestling - Clayton Hass 4.6

Barrel Racing - Reggie Crosby - I missed her time, though, as I was elbow deep in taquitos and icy cold drinks

Bull Riding - JW Harris 81.5

Then? We got to see George Strait. Oh, yeah, King George, folks. He sounded good, looked amazing, and since I was on the front row I got to shake his hand. Is there anything better in the world than that man singing Amarillo by Morning?

I don't think so...
