Been a banner week for rodeo

We went to Houston on opening night. I won't go on and on about Tim McGraw or rude Yankees here (one was fab, the latter were horrible). Instead I'll say how damned fine the Houston Livestock show is. The rodeo is well-organized, has big names, and flow smoothly. I think the arena is just a bit too big to see everything well, even at the 50 yard line, but the big screen is very nice, clear and easy to see from all angles. I would've liked to see the timer somewhere better and easier to see, but the announcers did a great job keeping us up with who was riding and what their scores were. I had a day sheet that I recorded on, but somewhere on the road trip home I lost it...

Most impressive group collectively were the steer wrestlers, who did great compared to the last few rodeos I've been to.

Among the familiar names in the field were Cody DeMers, Trevor Brazile, Cory Melton and Chad German.

A few days later we were at Star of Texas in Austin, our home field rodeo. Tracy Lawrence entertained, and we saw Beau LeDoux, Cody Odell, and Chad Eubank. Rodeo Austin is smaller, a little more intimate, and not quite as smooth, but both were a joy, and can I just say woo hoo, rodeo season!
